Installation
The artist's bodyweight in sand, quilting fabrics, acrylic, wood Dimensions variable "While looking into the patterns that can comfort but also hold us captive, Dawn Knight's installation utilizes the medium of sand to at once play with the material's semiotic and physical weight. Through her research in developing the work for this exhibition, she explored the history of quilts and their use as armor; far removed from their use as comforters today. Her engagement with sand and its ability to block, enfold, and morph, draw to mind the ever-changing and far from static nature of existence." - Helga Jakobson, Curator Internal Investigations (aceartinc.) |
